University Will Operate Remotely Until Noon on Thursday

Montclair State University will shift to remote operations on Thursday morning, February 6 due to the winter storm. This applies to both the Montclair and Bloomfield campuses.

  • In-person classes scheduled to start before 12 p.m. are canceled. In-person classes that start at 12 p.m. or after will meet in-person
  • Online classes will meet as scheduled.
  • Administrative offices and the libraries will operate remotely in the morning and then open at 12 p.m. to provide in-person service.  Employees working in these areas should plan to be on-site by 12 pm.
  • Campus activities scheduled before 12 p.m. are canceled.

Essential employees should report as scheduled. All other employees whose job duties can be performed remotely are expected to work remotely until 12 p.m., except for those who have been approved to use paid leave. Any previously-approved time off will be charged.

The University plans to resume normal operations on Friday, February 7. A message will be sent if that plan changes.

Move Cars from Surface Lots

  • Montclair residents and staff: Vehicles on the Montclair campus must be moved from surface parking lots to either the Red Hawk Parking Deck or CarParc Diem Parking Deck as early as 7 p.m. and must be moved no later than 11 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5. This will allow for snow removal and proper salting in the surface lots. Vehicles that are not moved by this time will be subject to citations and possible impound. Surface lots reopen at 12 p.m. and vehicles must be returned to surface lots by 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 6.
  • Bloomfield residents: Vehicles on the Bloomfield campus must be parked in Lot 1 along the fence where it’s marked “Park Here for Snow Removal.”

Dining

  • Montclair campus:
    • Sam’s and Freeman will operate under their normal hours on Thursday, February 6.
    • Dunkin’ Donuts will open at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 6.
    • All other retail dining locations will resume normal operations at 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 6.
  • Bloomfield campus: Schweitzer Dining will be the only food service operating at normal hours.

Shuttle Service

  • On-Demand (PWD) Service: Available as usual starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 6.
  • All Campus Shuttle: Three buses operating 11 a.m.– 3 p.m. on 20-minute headways on Thursday, February 6. Normal service resumes at 3 p.m., conditions permitting.
  • Village/VT Shuttle: Three buses operating 11 a.m.– 3 p.m. on 20-minute headways on Thursday, February 6. Normal service resumes at 3 p.m., conditions permitting.
  • Bloomfield Connection: Hourly service from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., with shuttles departing at the top of the hour on Thursday, February 6.
  • Night Hawk On-Demand: Operating under normal hours on Wednesday, February 5 into the early hours of Thursday, February 6 from 10 p.m.– 2 a.m.
  • Red Hawk Express: No service on Thursday, February 6.

Additional Updates

  • Information Commons Lab: University Hall, Room 5007 and Sprague Library Laptop Lending Lab will follow the delayed schedule and open at 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 6.
  • IT Service Desk: Will be working remotely and resume their normal operations hours at 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 6.
  • Student Center: Will follow the delayed schedule and open at 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 6.
  • Student Recreation Center: Will follow the delayed schedule and open at 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 6.
  • University Libraries: Will follow the delayed schedule and open at 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 6 for both campuses.

It is essential for all drivers to stay off campus roads during the duration of the storm for our facilities staff to properly clear roadways and walkways.
